Kingley Health Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take health insurance?

Yes. We recognize that price is an important consideration in your decision to come to us. To understand the value that we offer, you must consider your out-of-pocket cost.

We have great news for you since we accept health insurance for most of our services! As you will see below, we are in-network to a large number of health insurance companies and accept all insurance as out of network, as long as their plan covers our services.

We are in network with the following insurance companies:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Independence BC
  • BCBS
  • Medicare
  • Oxford
  • PHCS / Multiplan
  • Qualcare
  • GHI (Qualcare network)
  • United Healthcare
  • WellChoice
  • Amerihealth
  • Personal Choice
  • Keystone/ Keystone East

We accept out of network insurance payment from many other insurance companies. While we will accept all insurance, it does not mean that your insurance company will pay. Coverage is determined on an individual policy basis by your insurance company.

Will you check my insurance coverage?

We will check whether your policy provides coverage prior to your appointment as a courtesy to you. You will be responsible for any co-pay, co-insurance or deductible, as determined by your insurance company. You may also be required to obtain a referral from your primary care physician prior to your visit. It is your responsibility to obtain this referral or you will be liable for full payment. Some insurance companies will reimburse you directly for all or part of your fitness membership.

What if my health insurance doesn't cover your services?

While we believe that everybody's insurance should cover our nutrition and fitness programs, it is solely the decision of your insurance company as to whether they will cover you. We believe that in the event your insurance company does not cover our services or you do not have insurance your maximum out-of-pocket is very affordable for the service and value you will receive.

What does it cost?

For services that are covered by insurance, you pay your specialist copay, coinsurance, or your responsibility based on your deductible. Our maximum out-of-pocket responsibility for those who do not have insurance coverage or for those who don't have an insurance benefit is very reasonable. Fitness is fee for service and we offer a range of affordable contract options with monthly payments.

Does the program work?

Don't take our word for it, take our clients' word for it.

Do I have to participate in every aspect of the program?

No. You choose which elements you wish to do: nutrition, exercise, counseling, disease management. Of course, you will get the best results doing all the activities appropriate to your situation. However, we will support you in whatever choices you make.

How often and for how long does this program last?

You will get the best results if you come for weekly nutrition (and counseling) visits and exercise a minimum of 3 times per week. You should continue to come until you have broken your old habits and formed new ones. However, it is ultimately up to you to decide.

Do I really need to exercise to lose weight?

You do not need to exercise to lose weight but it is very, very difficult to keep it off without exercise. Relative to weight loss, exercise offers two critical benefits:

  1. It increases the amount of calories that you use each day, which will help you lose weight and
  2. It can increase the amount of lean muscle mass (assuming that at least part of your exercise program involves strength or resistance training).

Body fat is not metabolically active, meaning that it does not contribute to the amount of calories your body uses each day. Lean muscle mass on the other hand is metabolically active and causes your body to burn more calories. When you lose weight by diet alone, you will lose both body fat and lean muscle mass. This means the amount of calories you require each day actually decreases the more weight you lose. The more weight you lose, the less you can eat to keep the weight off. This doesn't sound like fair play but that's the way it works.

If, on the other hand, you keep your lean muscle mass the same (we're not talking about becoming muscle heavy - just keeping the same amount of muscle during your weight loss phase), then you can keep the amount of calories you need constant, even as you are losing weight. Even better, increase your lean muscle mass a bit and you can actually increase your metabolism rate, eat more, and not gain weight. All through exercise, no supplements or drugs.

How much exercise do I need to acheive a healthy lifestyle?

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, physically active people outlive those who are not. Regular physical activity helps maintain the functional independence of older adults and enhances the quality of life for people of all ages. It is strongly recommended that all adults have at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise a day. We strongly suggest that each individual's exercise program contain aerobic (or cardiorespiratory), strength (or resistance) training, and balance and flexibility elements. Our exercise physiologists can design a customized fitness program for you that will be fun, enjoyable, and get you the results you desire.
